Position Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Nurse Manager will be part of a nursing leadership and support team, responsible for the day-to-day oversight and management of ICHA nursing staff within various programs within partner sites across Toronto. This role will provide nursing managerial support to the Regional Mobile Nursing (RMN) Team, affiliated Virtual Hub nurses, the CATCH program, the Indigenous Health Team, Population Health, SCOUT, MDOT, TTC, and PEACH. Reporting to and supporting the Director of Nursing, the Nurse Manager will position ICHA’s interdisciplinary team for success in helping to drive clinical excellence alongside ICHA’s Physician Directors and Leads and Operations Leadership by embodying our mission and vision, as well as cultivating strong relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external sites/partners regarding clinical nursing matters, ensuring resolution and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Collaborate with the Nursing and Professional Practice Educator to coach and mentor nursing staff, fostering professional development and continuous learning.
  • Assist in assessing resource requirements, crafting job descriptions, conducting interviews, and selecting candidates to support the recruitment and retention of nursing staff.
  • Work with the Director of Nursing and Educator to ensure nursing staff adhere to College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) standards, managing professionalism concerns and addressing associated reporting obligations.
  • Oversee structured onboarding and offboarding processes for staff, ensuring a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Ensure accurate and effective nursing schedules, including managing sick calls and unexpected absences, to maintain continuity of care.

Qualifications:

  • Regulated healthcare worker (RN, RPN, or NP) with more than 3 years of senior leadership experience in a community or hospital care environment (with a preference for community/homeless health sector leadership experience). Advanced health leadership training an asset.
  • Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities an asset.
  • Experience with marginalized populations with complex health and social service needs is highly desirable. Fosters care that is low-barrier, trauma-informed, culturally safe, anti-oppressive, and harm-reduction-focused.
  • Ability to work effectively in a unionized environment in an interdisciplinary organization with physicians and physician leaders.
