Welcome to our course on Healthy Work Environments, where we will enhance knowledge and skills for transforming work environments and improving outcomes. Participants will learn from an HWE expert with extensive healthcare management experience, discussing the connection between HWE, retention, clinical excellence, and organizational goals.

Participant will embrace a healthy work environment (HWE) by fostering a culture of knowledge, promoting safety, inclusion, and ongoing skill development. This virtual two-session series covers theories and practices for cultivating a healthy, safe work environment, exploring HWE components, communication, interprofessional collaboration, conflict management, staffing, onboarding, retention, student engagement, and work-life balance. The series includes case studies and group discussions to apply HWE principles and demonstrate their impact on team retention and clinical excellence.

Compliance and Regulation in Long-Term Care: Navigating Standards in Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta

This course provides Long-Term Care (LTC) professionals with a comprehensive understanding of compliance and regulatory frameworks across Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta. Participants will gain insight into key provincial legislation, including the Long-Term Care Homes Act (Ontario), Community Care and Assisted Living Act (British Columbia), and Continuing Care Health Service Standards (Alberta). Quality Improvement in Long-Term Care: Leveraging Data and QI Methodologies for Better Outcomes

This course provides Long-Term Care (LTC) professionals with the knowledge and tools to lead effective Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives using data-driven strategies. Participants will explore key QI methodologies such as Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA), Root Cause Analysis, and Six Sigma, along with practical tools like run charts, fishbone diagrams, and control charts. Emphasis will be placed on benchmarking to evaluate performance against industry standards and identify opportunities for improvement. Through case studies and hands-on exercises, participants will learn how to collect, analyze, and interpret data to drive evidence-based changes, enhance resident care, and optimize operational efficiency. The role of charge nurses in LTC is crucial in driving excellence in patient care and fostering a positive work environment. This course is designed to equip charge nurses with essential leadership skills by integrating Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and data into their development. By the end of the course, participants will possess the tools to drive measurable improvements, effectively lead change, and ensure that the latest evidence-based knowledge is seamlessly integrated into bedside practice, ultimately resulting in improved patient outcomes.

Objective: Provide LTC staff with a quick, focused introduction to essential project management (PM) tools, empowering them with practical skills to immediately apply in their roles. The emphasis here is on rapid acquisition and practical application, ensuring that participants leave the session ready to integrate PM tools into their daily tasks.

SESSION 2. PM Skills Lab: Practical Tools for Project Success

Objective: Develop hands-on project management skills in LTC professionals through practical exercises with PM tools. “Skills Lab” highlights a workshop environment focused on practice and real-world application, helping participants master project success tools with direct relevance to LTC settings.
