Position Overview:
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Behavioural Supports Resource Team Lead (BSRT) to join our team at Thompson House. This full-time position is a unique opportunity to lead the expansion of our Behavioural Supports Ontario (BSO) team and make a meaningful impact on the lives of our residents.
As a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) and part of an interdisciplinary team, the BSRT Lead will be responsible for assisting in the overall functioning of the unit, providing holistic care, and supporting both residents and staff. This role involves coaching, mentoring, and modeling strategies and interventions to manage and care for residents with responsive behaviours, using best practices and evidence-based approaches.
In addition to overseeing the day-to-day operations of the BSO team, you will collaborate with clinical teams and management to develop and implement educational programs focused on certifications, emergency codes (including Code White), and crisis management protocols. You will also work closely with the new Resident and Family Coordinator on admission and discharge planning, ensuring a smooth transition and ongoing support for residents and their families.
Qualifications:
- Current certificate in good standing from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with full scope of practice.
- 3 years experience in assessing and treating older adults with dementia, complex mental health issues, substance use, and/or other neurological conditions, while managing complex caseloads.
- Training in P.I.E.C.E.S., Gentle Persuasive Approach, U-First!, CDCP, Montessori methods, etc preferred.
- Completion of BSO course required.
- Experience in mental health or related practices is preferred.
- Experience with quality improvement processes is considered an asset.
- Covid Vaccinated (minimum of 3 doses) and committed to obtaining next booster
Compensation:
- Compensation is based on collective agreement.
