1. DOC In Training Leadership Certification Program 

Program Overview & Components

The *DOC in Training Program* is a comprehensive leadership development program designed with 3 components to empower aspiring and current Directors of Care with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to excel in their roles within long-term care and healthcare settings.

Component 1: Self-paced modules
May 1, 2026 – June 15, 2026

Participants will engage in self-paced learning journey, exploring the 8 competency based modules of Leadership pillars. Each pillar will include targeted readings, case studies, and practical activities designed to enhance understanding and application.

Component 2: Live Virtual Learning Sessions (5 Days)
June 16, 2026, June 23, 2026 & June 30, 2026 (12 pm – 5 pm EST)
July 7, 2026 & July 14, 2026 (12 pm – 5 pm EST) 

Participants will join 5 live intensive virtual training sessions in addition to the final congress focusing on the 8 Pillar Topics. These interactive sessions will be led by experienced facilitators, blending discussions, real-world scenarios, and peer engagement to deepen their expertise.

Component 3: Capstone Project (self-paced)
Project Submission Date – July 21, 2026 

The program concludes with a capstone project, allowing participants to apply their learning to a real-world challenge or initiative within their organization. The project will include a poster presentation submission, accompanied by a 10-minute presentation for review and discussion to facilitate knowledge transfer and provide constructive feedback, strengthening the participant’s skills and readiness.

This structure ensures a balanced mix of focused learning, participant engagement, and time for reflection.

Component 4: Final Congress (virtual/live session)
July 28, 2026 (10:30 am – 5:30 pm EST) 

Participants will explore the following:

  • Prepare a poster presentation on existing priority areas.
  • Share leadership strategies and lessons learned.
  • Provide 10-15 minutes virtual presentation. 

Evaluations are based on the Maxwell Management Group’s Rubric Metrics on the poster presentation and verbal presentation with feedback. 

e-Certification of Participation Participants who complete all parts of the series will receive a Certification of Participation, recognizing their commitment to excellence.

Preparing for Leadership Success Nurse Managers and Associate Directors of Care (ADOC)

Advance your long-term care (LTC) leadership career with the Preparing for Leadership Success Program, a focused and comprehensive course designed to equip Associate Directors of Care (ADOCs) and Nurse Managers with the essential skills and knowledge needed to excel in a leadership program and transition confidently into the Director of Care (DOC) role.

2026 – June 8th, 9th, 15th, and 16th.

1. Governance/ Leadership

Understand how to create high functioning leaders and teams while balancing competing priorities in the accountability of DOC / ADOCs and senior leadership team members.

2. Regulations and Compliance

Learn how to navigate through chosen information systems, platforms, repositories and databases, to implement requirements from the O.REGS 246/22 and FLTCA, Resident Bill of Rights, Ministry of Labour, Occupational Health & Safety Act, Human Rights for compliance.

3. Quality Improvement & Change

Learn the Continuous Quality Improvements (CQI) initiative requirements and explore change strategies for infrastructure, performance measures, evaluations and sustainable outcomes.

4. Financial Management

Understand to manage the financial assets of your organization in regards to fiscal management, directing, and overseeing of the financial undertakings in your funded and non-funded envelopes.

5. Evidence Based Implementation

Adopt and integrate evidence-based practices, and where there none prevailing practices for clinically sound, relevant and effective nursing interventions to reduce variances in care.

6. Person Centered Care

Apply a person-centered care philosophy and explore strategies for implementation that integrates residents, families, staff and community partners to recognize the residents as “leaders “in their own care.

7. HR & Capacity Development

Examine current issues, trends, practices and processes in Human Resource Management that contribute to employee effectives, capacity development and overall organization effectiveness.

8. Healthy-Workplace Environments

Learn key strategies to create a healthy work environment that advances EDI, strengthens safety, and supports retention and clinical excellence.
