Physician Relations Specialist

Mosaic Primary Care Network (MPCN) is a group of family doctors and healthcare professionals that provide primary health care, in partnership with Alberta Health Services. Our Primary Care Network serves more than 367,000 patients in the northeast and southeast of Calgary.
MPCN recognizes the need to consult with and respect the health goals of each local community group. While each network provides primary care services, priorities are set locally. Each PCN designs programs and services to best meet local needs, which vary from area to area. This flexibility to develop local solutions to local health issues makes each PCN unique.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Physician Relations Specialist reporting to the Director, HR & Patient Relations provides support to the Medical Director and Physician Leads for the leadership of the Mosaic PCN physician services. This position is responsible for activities such as physician contractor recruitment, onboarding, compliance and contract management, supporting performance management, and proper offboarding. Additionally, this position will foster and maintain a workplace culture in which physicians working in MPCN clinics and services are feeling supported in safe and positive interactions between physicians, operational leadership, MPCN staff, and patients and their families.
The Physician Relations Specialist must be able to work independently as well as with other teams, including HR, privacy, IT, and clinical operational leadership, to provide leadership for the priorities set by the Medical Director in order to meet their accountabilities, prioritizing their limited time, and managing their resources efficiently. This position requires the ability to anticipate needs, think critically and offer solutions to problems with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. The incumbent will use their communication, facilitation, conflict management, and interpersonal skills to carry out the accountabilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years working in a similar role, preferably supporting a Medical Leadership position in a healthcare setting (other high-level position support will be considered).
- Experience in developing the full-cycle recruitment process and templates.
- At least three (3) years of experience in full-cycle recruitment, including posting, screening, interviewing, and extending offers for physicians or other non-employee professional groups (e.g., partners). Leader recruitment experience will also be considered.
- Experience in coaching leaders on performance management issues.
- Experience conducting investigations, analyses, and presenting findings, with exceptional writing skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proven conflict resolution and facilitation skills, especially in managing complex situations.
- Commitment to handling confidential information with discretion and sensitivity.
- Highly developed ability to influence without authority.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- High degree of professionalism in interactions with professionals and other stakeholders.
- Ability to make appropriate, informed decisions regarding priorities and available time.
- Ability to initiate and follow-up on activities independently.
- Proficiency with various Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of provincial healthcare, privacy, and compliance (an asset).
