Position Overview:
Reporting to the Director of Care (DOC), the Manager of Care – Cottages, is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of care within the Cottages. Under the direction of the DOC, the Manager leads care teams in attaining the goals and objectives for the program, including the collection and analysis of data related to key performance indicators, performance management, and adherence to licensing requirements. Resident care and services will be delivered in accordance with provincial standards, health authority expectations, legal requirements, and the mission, vision, and values of Hawthorne Seniors Care Community.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and day-to-day operational oversight to the Cottage care team, ensuring high-quality, resident-centered care delivery.
- Oversee the development, implementation, & evaluation of individualized care plans tailored to residents’ clinical and psychosocial needs.
- Mentor, guide, and support nursing and care staff through orientation, in-service education, performance evaluation, and ongoing professional development.
- Foster a collaborative care environment by engaging residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members in care planning and decision-making processes.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including data collection and analysis related to key performance indicators, resident outcomes, and compliance audits.
- Ensure compliance with provincial healthcare standards, health authority policies, and relevant legislation, including infection control, safety, and risk management.
- Maintain adequate inventory of medical and care supplies, and oversee procurement within allocated budgets.
- Refer appropriate residents to specialized services such as geriatric psychiatry, and ensure timely completion of assessments and related documentation.
- Support the leadership team with strategic planning, budgeting, human resources, and decision-making in areas affecting resident care and staff operations.
- Promote positive working relationships with families, community partners, and external stakeholders to uphold the organization’s reputation for compassionate and quality service delivery.
- Proficient in electronic health documentation systems (e.g., PointClickCare, MDS RAI, Excelleris) and Microsoft Office applications.
Qualifications:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) with completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) in good standing with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) is required.
- A minimum of four (4) years of gerontological nursing experience, including direct care to individuals with severe dementia and responsive behaviours.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a long-term care or residential setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 2 is considered an asset.
- GNC certification is considered an asset.
Compensation:
- The position offers a salary of $110,000, negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
