Bennett Village, a trusted and CARF-accredited seniors’ community in the heart of Halton Hills, is embarking on an exciting chapter of growth and transformation. With plans to expand from 66 to 192 LTC resident spaces and a $15 million capital campaign underway, we are seeking an inspiring and energetic Director of Development to lead the charge.
The Opportunity:
Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a hands-on role for a dynamic fundraiser who thrives on connecting with people and rallying support. You will be the driving force behind cultivating and stewarding donors, while also equipping our Board and CEO to be effective champions of philanthropy. This is a chance to build a fundraising program from the ground up, shaping its future direction and leaving a lasting legacy for seniors in our community.
We understand the importance of work-life balance and recognize that different employees have unique needs and preferences. As such, this position offers flexible work arrangements.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead donor cultivation and stewardship, bringing energy and authenticity to every interaction.
- Partner with the CEO and Board to identify, engage, and inspire donors, ensuring they feel confident and supported in their roles.
- Develop and deliver fundraising strategies, including major gifts, annual giving, events, and a growing legacy program.
- Develop and lead communications, including public relations, media outreach, and digital presence.
- Oversee creation of newsletters, annual reports, marketing materials, and donor communications.
- Act as a visible ambassador in the community, building partnerships with business leaders, government officials, and healthcare stakeholders.
- Manage gift processing, donor communications, and reporting with accuracy and professionalism.
Who You Are:
- A natural relationship-builder who thrives in networking and public-facing roles.
- Experienced in fundraising, donor engagement, and community relations, with the confidence to guide senior leaders and volunteers.
- Strategic yet hands-on professional who enjoys creating plans, but also rolls up their sleeves to make things happen.
- Skilled in storytelling and advocacy, you know how to craft compelling narratives that inspire engagement, amplify Bennett Village’s impact, and strengthen fundraising and grant writing efforts.
- Inspired by mission, vision, and values, with the ability to connect hearts and minds to the cause.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (such as non-profit management, business administration, communications, or marketing).
- 5+ years of progressive fundraising or development experience, ideally with exposure to major gifts and campaigns.
- Proven success in cultivating and securing donor relationships, sponsorships, or grants.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to represent Bennett Village confidently in the community.
- Experience working with or guiding volunteers, board members, or leadership teams in fundraising efforts.
- Solid understanding of donor database management and fundraising best practices.
Why Join Bennett Village:
- Be part of a warm, values-driven culture where collaboration and respect matter.
- Help lead a transformational capital campaign that will expand and modernize care for seniors.
- Work closely with a visionary CEO and supportive Board who are deeply invested in fundraising success.
- Enjoy hybrid work flexibility while staying grounded in a beautiful, community-based setting in Georgetown.
- Bennett Village is launching a capital campaign with a goal of $5 million, and we would be delighted to exceed this target to further expand our impact.
- Our compensation plan includes a competitive base salary with additional performance-based incentives for outstanding impact in advancing this mission.
- As Bennett Village expands its reach and impact, so too does your opportunity to grow with us.
