Director of Care (DOC) Registered Nurse, Long Term Care

Location:Winnipeg, Manitoba

Our client is offering personal and 24 hour professional nursing care in a fully accredited 245 bed long term care home. This facility is a multi‐level facility located in downtown Winnipeg with a beautiful large courtyard for residents to enjoy the outdoors. A variety of services and programs are provided to support the residents’ needs.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Administrator, the Director of Care will oversee the provision of nursing care for residents within the home in keeping with the philosophy and policies. The Director of Care is an integral member of the leadership team, supporting endeavors within the home by collaborating with other teams, regional resources and supporting the programs and practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, organizes, directs, and monitors the operational activities of the Nursing Department to provide quality resident care.
  • Establishes and implements goals, objectives and policies that follow regulatory requirements and are aligned with the organization’s values.
  • Applies a resident-centered care approach that focuses on relationships and actively engages residents, families, and extended team members in relation to resident care needs and department activities.
  • Promotes a positive and safe work environment for staff and residents.

Qualifications:

  • Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) or Manitoba Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba. Preference given to graduates of a Bachelor of Nursing Program, Nursing Administration Program or equivalent.
  • Experience in long-term care an asset
  • Two to three years of leadership or supervision experience required.
  • Active knowledge of Manitoba Health Standards, Accreditation, resident centered philosophies is required.
