Position Overview:

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Care (DOC) provides strategic and operational leadership for all resident care services. The DOC is accountable for the overall clinical, administrative, and operational management of the department, including Infection Prevention and Control Programs and oversight of contracted clinical services.

Guided by the organization’s mission, vision and values, the Director of Care ensures the delivery of safe, high quality, evidence-informed care that meets or exceeds all legislative, regulatory, licensing, accreditation and organizational requirements. This role champions a culture of quality, accountability, resident safety and continuous improvement, while supporting teams to deliver person-centred care and achieve excellent outcomes for residents and families.

Responsibilities:

Clinical Leadership & Quality of Care

  • Lead resident care services to ensure safe, high-quality, evidence-based care that meets all regulatory, licensing and professional standards.
  • Champion continuous quality improvement and foster a culture of safety, accountability and learning across all clinical programs and services.
  • Oversee Infection Prevention and Control and maintain current, evidence-based care policies and programs.

Team Leadership & Staff Development

  • Act as a clinical resource to the interdisciplinary team and lead the recruitment, performance management, and development of care staff in alignment with collective agreements.
  • Oversee staff orientation, scheduling, education, and ongoing professional development to support competency and organizational priorities.

Operations, Compliance & Resource Management

    • Manage the resident care resources and ensure effective oversight of contracted Clinical service services.
    • Oversee and Ensure accurate and timely documentation and reporting of resident care, including RAI, admissions, care conferences, medication reviews, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) registered with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Post-graduate education or certification in Long-Term Care Administration preferred.
  • Experience equivalent to the minimum qualifications, acquired through a combination of post-secondary education, professional designation/licensure (where applicable), and progressive experience in older adult/seniors care and/or related health or community services settings. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.

 Compensation:

  • Annual salary range of $135,000 – $150,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
