Located in the West end of Ottawa, Hillel Lodge has served as a home for individuals in need of long-term personal care since it officially opened its doors in 1965. With a current complement of 121 beds and housed within a thriving 13-acre Jewish Community Campus, we provide a wide range of programming and events to meet the diverse needs of our residents, their families and the larger community which we serve.

Based on our own guiding principles as well as the Torah commandment to honour thy father and mother, our residents are the most important focus of our attention and ongoing efforts. The services provided to our residents are organized to offer options and opportunities to address each resident’s physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual needs, including end-of-life care.
Position Overview:
The Assistant Director of Care (ADOC) provides leadership, education, assistance, and direction across all neighborhoods in our vibrant person-centred living environment. Provides management, guidance, support and coaching to all Nursing staff where needed to achieve excellence in the delivery of care in the home.
Qualifications:
- B.Sc. in Nursing.
- Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Nurses
- 3-5 years of direct supervisory experience in a long-term care environment.
- 3 years of experience managing required programs, as per MOLTC
- Excellent team building, conflict management and mentoring skills.
- Exhibit patience, compassion, and empathy in working with the elderly and vulnerable persons.
- Strong orientation towards Person-Centred Care
- Expert-level clinical assessment skills
- Handles multiple often competing priorities in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
- Excellent attention to detail
