Position Overview & Responsibilities:
Key Areas of Impact
Reporting to the Director of Care, the Assistant Director of Care (ADOC) serves as a senior nurse leader and is responsible for key department functions. The ADOC will ensure quality resident care, an excellent overall resident experience, and compliance with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, all other relevant legislation, professional practice standards, and the HMLTC’s policies.
👥 People Leadership
- Maintain a visible presence, mentoring and supporting staff
- Support recruitment, performance management, and clinical education and orientation
- Foster a culture of accountability, development, and engagement
🩺 Quality & Clinical Excellence
- Lead risk meetings, IPAC, and medication management programs
- Conduct audits, analyze trends, and implement proactive improvement strategies
- Ensure compliance with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021 and accreditation standards
⚙️ Operations, Programs & Resources
- Support daily nursing operations, coordinate interdisciplinary services and assume responsibility for the department in the absence of the DOC
- Support Ministry inspections and quality improvement initiatives
- Lead program evaluations and contribute to clinical planning and special projects
- Oversee effective use of resources, compliance documentation, data analysis, and coordination of services, inspections, and program initiatives
🤝 Partnerships & System Integration
- Collaborate with community partners, education institutions, and healthcare teams
- Support student placements and future workforce development
This role is ideal for a clinically strong and collaborative nursing leader committed to quality care, team development, and continuous improvement within a long-term care environment.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO); BScN required
- Current CPR certification
- Post-RN education in Nursing, Gerontology, or Business is an asset
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an RN in a long-term care setting, including at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role
Compensation:
- The annual salary range for this position is $105,000 – $115,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
- The total rewards package includes a comprehensive benefits program and an RRSP plan.
