We are inviting Seniors’ Support organizations to express their interest in participating in a new, fully funded program designed to strengthen the prevention of abuse and neglect by placing residents’ voices at the heart of every effort.

Program Highlights: Prevention of Elder Abuse and Neglect Program
- Resident-Centered Approach: Empowers residents by placing their voices at the core of all safety and care initiatives.
- Collaborative Strategy Development: Engages Residents’ Councils, Family Councils, and care teams to co-design actionable prevention strategies tailored to each organization.
- Targeted Education & Training: Provides accessible education sessions for staff, residents, and families on recognizing, preventing, and responding to abuse and neglect.
- Clear & Confidential Reporting Mechanisms: Establishes easy-to-use and anonymous tools for reporting concerns, fostering a culture of openness and trust.
- Ongoing Dialogue & Feedback Forums: Hosts regular town halls and feedback sessions to ensure ongoing communication and responsiveness to residents’ lived experiences.
- Policy & Practice Alignment: Supports organizations in aligning their internal policies with best practices and legislative requirements related to elder abuse prevention.
- Measurable Outcomes & Accountability: Tracks progress through data collection, audits, and improvement plans to ensure the program delivers lasting impact.
- Trauma-Informed, Culturally Safe Framework: Applies a compassionate, inclusive approach to support residents of all backgrounds, abilities, and identities.
- Sustainability Planning: Equips organizations with tools and resources to maintain and evolve the program over time.
- Funding Support Available (Where Applicable): Eligible organizations may receive funding to implement and sustain core elements of the program.
By amplifying resident and family perspectives, this program aims to create safer, more respectful, and inclusive environments, where improvements are continuous.
Through this funded initiative, Residents’ Councils, Family Councils, and Leadership care teams will work together to design meaningful strategies that promote safety, dignity, and respect for every resident.
This is more than a compliance exercise, it’s a commitment to cultural change, grounded in collaboration and the lived experience of those receiving care.
