Position Overview:

The Nurse Practitioner Manager is an integral member of the inter-professional health team at Dearness and a member of the nursing management team.

This position is responsible for the planning, coordination, and delivery of care to long term care residents in collaboration with the Assistant Directors of Care. The Nurse Practitioner Manager is accountable for their own practice and will provide comprehensive health assessments, diagnose health/illness conditions, and treat and manage acute and chronic illnesses as part of the resident’s care plan.

The Nurse Practitioner Manager will provide clinical and educational support to residents, staff, and family members and facilitate community care connections across health care sectors for residents requiring complex care services. Directing and supervising all nursing staff for compliance to their roles, this position will work to develop a culture of excellence in clinical practice using a person-centred care philosophy.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a Baccalaureate in Nursing program, with current registration in the Nurse Practitioner Association of Ontario and the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario.
  • Completion of the Ontario Primary HealthCare Nurse Practitioner Certificate Program.
  • Experience in gerontological nursing and/or as a primary health care nurse practitioner.
  • Post graduate education/experience in gerontology is an asset

Position Overview:

The Director of Clinical Services is accountable to the Executive Director for the direction of the nursing department in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures. The Director of Clinical Services promotes resident centred care and possesses the skills necessary to provide leadership to the nursing department and promotes effective communication with staff, residents, family members and community partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, directs, coordinates and supervises the overall nursing program for residents within the home.
  • Promotes resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement.
  • Promotes a positive team spirit within the nursing department and home.
  • Review all resident applications for admission to determine appropriate level of care. Liaises with discharge planners, CCAC and families for appropriate placement. Assists with processing of admission and discharge papers.
  • Hires, orients, schedules, supervises and evaluates the performance of nursing personnel. This includes use of the disciplinary process.

Qualifications:

  • A Registered Nurse with current registration as a Registered Nurse with The College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices and techniques as they relate to long term care.
  • A minimum of one year of experience working as a registered nurse in the long-term care sector.
  • A minimum of three years of experience working as a registered nurse in a managerial or supervisory capacity in a health care setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
  • Possession of planning, coordinating, supervising and implementing a comprehensive nursing care program.
  • Have competency skills as identified under The Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Seeks out opportunities to maintain competency and continued learning in compliance with the Continuous Quality Improvement (C.Q.I.) Standards of Practice.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Administrator, the Director of Care is responsible for managing all aspects of nursing care within the facility to ensure quality resident care through the effective, efficient delivery of established standards within legislative and budgetary requirements.
One of London’s more established LTC residences, this 170 bed community has a robust staffing model that supports the delivery of exceptional care to their residents. The team has experienced much success historically with accreditation and inspections – a team effort by the leadership team and front line staff. The DOC will need to lead by example and have strong leadership skills to mentor, coach, and build excellent relationships with staff, residents, and families.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, organizes, directs, and supervises the activities of the Nursing Department to provide quality resident care.
  • Interprets nursing philosophy and establishes and implements goals and objectives, policies, and procedures in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains all required records, reports, statistics, etc., for both residents and department personnel in accordance with policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
  • Liaises and consults with families/residents, government officials, company resources and professionals in relation to resident care needs and department activities.
  • Assumes responsibility for the facility in the absence of the Administrator.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse, Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Previous managerial experience in long-term care as well as knowledge of applicable legislation, unionized settings, and labour contracts.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices and techniques including education.
  • Effective human relation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
