Position Overview:

Reporting to the Administrator, the Director of Care position is a critical role with overall accountability for the management and leadership of resident care and services as well as for our overall resident experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning, coordinating, directing and monitoring effectiveness of all operational activities within the nursing department, ensuring those activities are aligned to the home’s strategic plan, mission and values.
  • Promotes a resident-centered care approach that engages residents, family members and employees to provide care that meets the individual needs of our residents.
  • Overseeing recruitment, employee and labour relations, payroll and benefits, orientation, occupational and non-occupational injury/illness, performance management, training, education and other people related functions within the nursing department.
  • Responds promptly to address concerns of residents and family members, mediates appropriate responses to those concerns and implements action plans.
  • Provides financial leadership by managing and monitoring the nursing budget, nursing envelope expenditures and fiscal plan. Takes appropriate action where variances are identified to bring expenditures in line within the nursing budget.
  • Ensures effective and efficient procurement and supply control procedures within the nursing department.
  • Providing leadership and direction to ensure all nursing aspects of a Quality and Risk Management Improvement Program are carried out in alignment with the home’s strategic plan and with a focus to continuously improve nursing and resident care services.

Qualifications:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Ontario College of Nurses.
  • Minimum of 2 – 3 years’ working experience as a Registered Nurse in a managerial or supervisor capacity in a healthcare setting, preferably long-term care.
  • Must have a minimum of year of experience working as a Registered Nurse in the long-term care sector.
  • Must have demonstrated supervisory and leadership abilities (e.g., people management, finance, labour relations and departmental coordination).
  • Must posses excellent written and oral communication skills.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Regional Director of Senior Living, the Administrator position is a critical role with overall accountability for resident experience, operations management and performance of the home.

Responsibilities:

As part of our team, your role as an Administrator contributes to our resident experiences in the following ways:

  • Planning, coordinating, directing and monitoring effectiveness of all operational activities of the home, ensuring those activities are aligned to the home’s strategic plan.
  • Ensuring that all operational activities are congruent with the mission and values of the home.
  • Overseeing recruitment, employee and labour relations, payroll and benefits, orientation, occupational and non-occupational injury/illness, performance management, training, education and other people related functions.
  • Providing leadership and direction to ensure all aspects of a Quality and Risk Management Improvement Program are carried out in alignment with the home’s strategic plan.
  • Ensure risk management activities take place to reduce and control potential or actual risks to the safety, security and health of all individuals, and to the safety and security of the home.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation including but not limited to: Ministry Acts, regulations, policies and procedures, directives and collective agreements.
  • Respond promptly to address concerns of residents and family members, mediate appropriate responses to those concerns and implement action plans.
  • Acts in a leadership capacity to ensure that employees within the care community foster positive customer service with all residents and families in their day-to-day work.
  • Provide financial leadership by managing and monitoring budgets and fiscal plans. Take appropriate action where variances are identified to bring expenditures in line within the budget.
  • Seeks opportunities and networks to ensure a participative working relationship within Local Health Integration Network (LHIN), health service providers, CCAC/Discharge Planners and other community agencies.
  • Communicate with related Long Term Care Health Agencies to promote coordination and/or planning long term care services.
  • Effectively build positive relations with representatives from the Government, Unions, other Agencies and organizations as appropriate.
  • Ensures measures are taken to facilitate optimal occupancy.
  • Maintain an organized system of records management, which includes collection, access, storage, retention and destruction of records, financial, and trust accounts.
  • Ensures that all required committees are properly functioning.
  • Ensures an effective system of admission and discharge of residents.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one year of experience working as a registered nurse in the long-term care sector.
  • Three years of working experience as a registered nurse in a managerial or supervisory capacity in a health care setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills required.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation, unionized settings and labour contracts preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices and techniques including education.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the CEO and serving as part of the senior leadership team, the Director of Social Work, Program & Support Services is responsible for the leadership and management of Programs and Support Services in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Home, Resident Bill of Rights, policies, collective agreements, applicable legislation and professional standards.

Responsibilities:

Life Enrichment Services (Recreation):
  • Ensures that Residents’ needs are clearly identified and documented.
  • Monitors Resident Services plans and Team plans regularly and works with staff to ensure plans are met.
Volunteer Services:
  • Oversees volunteer program to respond to the resident’s identified strengths, needs and wishes.
  • Oversees and acts as a support to the recruitment and selection of volunteers.
Pastoral Care Services:
  • Oversees Pastoral Care Services.
  • Build linkages with external relevant community and spiritual contacts.
Financial Accountability:
  • Identifies area budget needs and issues and participates in development of annual budget.
  • Monitors budget on a monthly basis and explains any significant variances.
Health and Safety:
  • Ensures that the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act Sections 25, 26, 27 and 28 are met. All management staff will be evaluated annually on these standards.
Legislation and Policy Accountability:
  • Ensures compliance with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021, Regulation 246/22 and all applicable legislation.

  • Must hold a certificate of registration with, and be a member in good standing with the Ontario College
