Position Overview:

Reporting to the Health & Safety Superintendent, the Wellness Program Facilitator is responsible for providing on-site counselling to employees and recommending additional interventions or support programs to ensure optimal employee wellness while on and off-site.   The Wellness Program Facilitator will plan, implement and oversee a comprehensive health promotion/wellness program that fosters a positive and inclusive culture and enhances the overall wellness of the workforce at Island Gold Mine.  The Wellness Program Facilitator plays a primary role in building a culture of wellbeing by collaborating with key on-site and off- site stakeholders, to incorporate a holistic wellness approach to program development for new and existing programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Working with employees to provide short-term counselling face to face, over the telephone or online as required.  Build relationships of trust with employees and keeping confidential records.
  • Communicate on clients’ behalf, with express consent, with external professionals.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of a Wellness program with the goal of enhancing employee health and well-being and improving the overall health of the workplace.
  • Create awareness and provide tools to employees that help them adapt and maintain a well-rounded healthy lifestyle, identify risks, increase morale and retention, and decrease absenteeism.
  • Explores ideas and opportunities to personalize the program to increase employee participation.
  • Initiate the planning, development, implementation, and monitoring of site-based well-being initiatives.
  • Working with employees to provide short-term counselling face to face, over the telephone or online as required.
  • Ability to build relationships of trust with employees and keeping confidential records.
  • Communicate on clients’ behalf, with express consent, with external professionals.
  • Work with external service providers to ensure proper services are being administered.
  • Measure outcomes of wellness programs and modify as required.
  • Regularly reporting metrics to senior management to ensure program effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Professional certification or degree in, counselling, psychology, social work, or other health related field.
  • Current Professional Registration (registered and in good standing) within Canada.
  • Experience in facilitating and/or developing and implementing wellness programs and strategies.
  • Strategic thinking skills to recognize how specific actions and messages will impact different stakeholders.
  • Able to coordinate and foster effective working relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to reinforce self-determination and coping mechanisms (i.e. aiding in re-establishment of traditional forms of support and coping.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong demonstrated ability to adapt to audiences’ needs (employees, management, external partners and stakeholders and community, etc.).
