Executive Director, Not for Profit – Seniors’ Living

About:
Sts. Peter and Paul Residence (SPPR) was established in 1980 by the elders of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church as a not-for-profit seniors’ residence. Our mission is to provide a dignified quality of life for both Ukrainian and non-Ukrainian seniors. Located at 221 Milner Avenue in Scarborough, Ontario, our residence features a spacious and well-maintained complex with two separate wings: a nine-floor apartment wing with 150 apartments and a six-floor retirement home wing with 64 fully furnished rooms for assisted living.
We are dedicated to creating a nurturing and supportive environment for our seniors, ensuring their health and well-being through our excellent facilities and dedicated care. Deeply embedded in the community, we maintain strong partnerships with the City of Toronto and various stakeholders in the retirement home community, reflecting our commitment to both resident care and community involvement.
Position Overview:
The Executive Director at Sts. Peter and Paul Residence will be a pivotal leader, responsible for the overall management and operation of the residence according to the strategic plan. This role demands exceptional hands-on leadership skills, focusing on equipping employees with the necessary tools and skills to excel in their roles. The Executive Director will ensure the successful implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures through proficient HR management and will maintain excellent relationships with the City of Toronto and various partners in the retirement home community.
Major Responsibilities:
- Lead managers and staff in the overall management and operation of SPPR
- Oversee operational planning and management, including risk management and financial management
- Oversee all aspects of hiring, occupational health and safety, and employee management
- Represent SPPR to the greater community, fostering partnerships, advocacy objectives, and community programming initiatives
- Plan, develop, and implement age-appropriate programs to enhance the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development of seniors
- Establish and maintain client/family relations
- Support the Board of Directors
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of senior management experience in operations, administration, or nursing
- Strong leadership skills with a visionary approach, adaptable in times of crisis, and capable of enhancing team building
- Proven track record of effectively operating a retirement home or other seniors’ organization
- Demonstrated hands-on leadership with the ability to develop and operationalize strategies for organizational growth
- Proven ability to plan, develop, implement, and monitor strong programs
- Excellent interpersonal skills to create respectful, nurturing, and empowering relationships within a diverse team
- Ability to maintain control in high-stress situations, including emergencies and hostile behaviour
- Strong analytical skills related to budgeting and financial management
- Fluency in Ukrainian is an asset
