Director of Operations, Long Term Care
Toronto, ON

The Director of Operations provides overall guidance, support, and supervision to the management of Long Term Care Homes.  He or she is responsible to ensure the operation is conducted in a business-like, prudent, and cost-efficient manner in compliance with all applicable statutes, regulations, and governmental requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide operational support to 4-6 long-term care homes with a focus on quality, compliance, occupancy and marketing as well as mentoring the homes’ Administrators
  • Provides leadership, support and guidance to the different committees
  • Mentor and provide support to Administrators on labour and industrial relations and issues
  • Assist with the negotiation of collective agreements
  • Assists in the recruitment, orientation and training of new Administrators
  • Assists with the development of Human Resource policy and procedures
  • Active involvement in various external committees including LHIN and CCAC
  • Receive and monitor Accounts Receivable status of the homes and continuously consult on reducing outstanding accounts
  • In collaboration with the Vice President of Operations and the Nurse Consultants, monitors the Quality Improvement Program and provide feedback to senior management team

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Post secondary education
  • Completed or enrolled in CHA Long term care management course or equivalent
  • Proven management experience in long term care, minimum 3-5 years
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic accounting
  • Proven experience with labour relations and applicable legislation
  • Positive working attitude
  • Exceptional team building skills a must
  • Ability to travel to long-term care Homes in GTA, Barrie, North Bay and other areas as required
