We have an exciting opportunity for a BSO Nurse Manager who is passionate about providing support and guidance to the BSO program in the Niagara Region.

Position Overview:

The BSO (Behavioural Supports Ontario) Nurse Manager provides administrative leadership and coordinates all activities and services provided by the BSO within their geographic region. They are responsible for directing and supervising the performance of BSO Mobile LTC staff in the Niagara region, while maintaining positive working relationships with the partner Long Term Care Homes. The BSO Nurse Manager partners with Community Support Service agencies that work in collaboration with the BSO teams for the best care outcomes of the residents. They manage the referral process, prioritizing clinical responses based on BSO model for care pathways and promote the utilization of the BSO program(s) in their region.


  • Develops and Implements all BSO promotion activities and material circulation.
  • Directs staff by managing schedules, assigning duties and establishing priorities for service delivery.
  • Develops and maintains an effective working relationship with each BSO member home through regular communication with senior staff conducts satisfaction surveys and manages conflict resolution.
  • Conducts regular speaking engagements and education in-services in member homes and throughout the LTC community in their assigned regional hub to promote utilization of BSO services.
  • Develops and Implements regular quality improvement activities, implementation and evaluation of such as directed.
  • Develops and maintains effective referral, referral tracking and continuous quality improvement initiatives in collaboration with existing community resources and as directed by the BSO Oversight/ Management Committee.
  • Assesses and prioritizes referrals and schedules staff appropriately based on requirements and resources available and collective agreement
  • Monitors service delivery and mediates disputes between BSO and client LTC homes
  • Responsible for implementation of all HR activities for BSO staff. Interviewing, performance appraisals, performance improvement activities, attendance monitoring, conflict resolution and terminations of staff as per the CUPE collective agreement.
  • Ensures regular and consistent communication with the RN Management committee through regular monthly reporting, bi monthly meetings and presentations on request.
  • Supervises and maintains all required BSO program documentation and the access data base as per established BSO pathways.
  • Maintains relationships and ongoing training and awareness with mental health program and supports within the community.
  • Ensures staff complete annual mandatory training, assigns staff to ongoing education as directed or required.


  • Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Sound knowledge and application of practices as they relate to persons with Dementia.
  • Experience in Mental Health or related practices preferred.
