Position Overview:

Our client is a long-term care (LTC) management provider of five healthcare sites in Ontario. The Bookkeeper will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to ensure the efficient management of financial risks of the corporation. This would include the responsibility for the financial planning, budgeting, managing the finance and payroll activities of the company as well as financial reporting to the Management Team.


  • Provide leadership, direction and management of the finance, accounting and payroll team
  • Monitors financial performance and provides recommendations to CEO and Management Team
  • Manage and complete the processes for financial forecasting and budgets, account analysis and reconciliation
  • Manage and complete day to day transactional processes including the preparation of monthly financial reports to Management Team including leading monthly financial reporting meetings
  • Ensure tax and government reporting compliance including annual review and reporting of HST WSIB and EHT
  • Responsible for the reconciliation of accounts and preparation of reports for management, auditors and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care;
  • Co-ordination of year end processes and preparation of working papers and documents for year-end audit process; liaise regularly with external audit team to meet reporting requirements


  • 2 year Accounting diploma or equivalent
  • At least 3 to 5 years’ experience working in a senior accounting role; preferably in a healthcare environment
  • Long-term care experience in a financial role will be strongly preferred;
  • Understanding of an envelope based funding environment
  • Experience in all aspects of financial management and budget development
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills; detail oriented individual;
  • Advanced computer skills required in Excel and experience working with accounting software
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail orientated individual
  • Strong ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential
