Assistant Director of Care, Registered Nurse

 Position Overview & Responsibilities:

The Assistant Director of Care plays a critical role within the community as they impact the lives of residents through the strong leadership and motivation of the team members.

  • Co-coordinating, directing and monitoring the effectiveness of all operational activities within the Nursing department.
  • Participating in the recruitment, team member and labour relations, orientation, occupational and non-occupational injury/illness, performance management, training, education and other team member related functions of the community for respective department team members.
  • Overseeing clinical care processes to ensure that care is delivered according to the individual plans of care for residents.
  • Working with the Director of Care to promote and ensure standards of practice are achieved and evaluated.
  • Leading the implementation and evaluation of required clinical programs such as Falls Prevention, Skin and Wound Care, Palliative Care and Quality of Life Programs.
  • Contributing to the development of job routines for all nursing personnel and adjust job routines based on resident care needs.
  • Responding promptly to concerns of residents and family members, mediating a satisfactory response to concerns and implementing action plans to avoid reoccurrence of similar issues.

Qualifications:

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in clinical nursing care that may include Geriatric, Long Term Care, Rehabilitation, or Chronic Care.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience.
  • Knowledge of BSO an asset.
  • Vulnerable Sector Screening.
