Assistant Director of Care (ADOC), Registered Nurse

Sidney (Vancouver Island), British Columbia

Our valued client is seeking a motivated Assistant Director of Care to join their team in beautiful Sidney by the Sea located at the south end of Vancouver Island. The 88 bed home is a family-owned, private pay long-term care residence.

Position Overview:

In conjunction with the ED and as part of a multi-disciplinary team, the ADOC oversees the assessment and plans the care of the residents as well as provide support to the care team while also contributing to the efficient day to day operations of the department.

Responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with the ED and Leadership team, the ADOC is responsible for helping to ensure compliance with licensing regulations
  •  Assist in any new and or ongoing complaints/investigations as directed by the ED
  • Responsible for admission and discharge assessments for residents as directed by the ED
  • Expected to attend and complete off site admission assessments as required
  • Schedule and participate in resident medication reviews
  • Participate in conjunction with Medical Director and pharmacist in the Medication Safety Program to ensure safe and appropriate administration of medication
  • Schedule and chair multidisciplinary care conference for the residents and their families
  • In conjunction with the ED the ADOC is responsible for monitoring care team and assigned tasks and follow up with identified concerns when required
  • In conjunction with the ED, monitor the Most Responsible Nurse (MRN) duties to ensure
  • Nursing staff are meeting expectations
  • Review current care levels and care plans
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of best practice guidelines, protocols, and education in conjunction with the ED and Lead team
  • Provide input/feedback in regards to the performance evaluation of care staff as requested by the ED
  • Complete Performance Evaluations of care staff in conjunction with the ED

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an approved Registered Nursing Program
  • Current, full licensure as an RN through the BC College of Nursing Professionals
  • Minimum two years’ recent related experience which, can be combined with relevant education
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Must demonstrate strong clinical competency skills
  • Computer aptitude with relevant skills including Windows based computer knowledge
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
