This premier Adult and Retirement Community is conveniently located close to shopping, hospital, restaurants and local attractions and features 76 full-service retirement suites where residents can enjoy a fitness centre, saltwater pool,
bistro, theatre, games lounge, and a wellness centre.

This is an excellent growth opportunity. This position is focused on the oversight of day to day general management of the business as well as providing nursing leadership for the wellness department. The primary focus of this role will be achieving optimum operational and care services based on standards, policies and procedures consistent with the core values of the organization while ensuring resident safety and demonstrating customer service excellence. As an executive level manager, you will be required to approach all staff in a manner that will promote motivation and productivity within the workplace.


  • Previous management experience in a retirement residence
  • Approachability and a high degree of professionalism, patience, compassion, and confidentiality when interacting with employees, residents and family members
  • Financial expertise with an ability to implement and manage budgets
  • Ability to assist in the development of business strategies, team-building, long-term planning and projections
  • Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills and the ability to delegate both responsibility and authority
  • Working knowledge of industry-related legislation
  • Must have previous sales and marketing experience


  • Leads, supervises, coaches and mentors the management team in the day to day operations of the Retirement Community
  • Oversee the health & wellness department including leading and mentoring the wellness team in medication distribution & administration, care package services, regular resident assessments and communication with families and community resource partners
  • Delegates responsibility to senior staff based on clearly defined lines of authority and communication
  • Responsible for recruitment, orientation, performance management and scheduling of Guest Attendants, PSW’s and RPN’s
  • Provides leadership and direction to ensure all aspects of the Quality Improvement Program are carried out as scheduled (Quality Management Plan, corporate indicators, monthly QI schedules, currency of policy and procedure manuals)
  • Ensure the Community is compliant with RHRA regulations under the RHA 2010.
  • Act as a role model and drive excellence in customer service throughout the Community


  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in geriatrics, rehabilitation and/ or retirement living, preferably with previous experience as a General Manager or a Director of Care/Wellness in a retirement setting.
  • Graduate of a post-secondary nursing program and current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Nurses as an RN or RPN
  • Possess sound judgment, intuitive, and the ability to foster a positive work atmosphere
  • Excellent supervisory and leadership abilities in the areas of human resources, finance, and departmental coordination
  • Knowledge and familiarity with RHRA regulations and compliance
  • Management experience within an unionized workplace will be an asset
