Director of Long Term Care Services – Registered Nurse

East York, Ontario

Our client is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to developing a safe and caring environment for gracefully aging seniors.  They are known as an intergenerational community for families both young and older with a focus on creating a safe and encouraging place in a congregated setting.

 Position & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the strategic and operational direction of the long-term care operations to meet the resident care needs of a vulnerable population
  • Ensures the provision of safe, quality nursing care, delivered in a resident focused manner; and at the same time ensuring legislative requirements are met. Confirms that the Professional Standards of Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario are followed in the provision of nursing services to the residents
  • Responsible for coordination of long-term care policies, including quality/risk management policies, standards and procedures
  • Provides leadership, mentorship, supervision, coaching and direction to direct reports and nursing staff
  • Manage projects and Initiatives designed to promote client safety and quality improvement on a community -wide, program-wide and business unit scale
  • Comprehends and interprets all components of related legislation for staff, residents and families
  • Maintains systems and processes that meet regulatory compliance. Ensures that appropriate action is recommended and initiated for those employees who do not work in compliance with the Act (s)
  • Coordinates quality management program including: generates collaborative quality improvement goals and objectives, collects and analyzes quality and risk indicators
  • Monitors that employees perform work in accordance with the Long-Term Care Homes Act (2007) and supporting regulations 79/10, Health & Safety legislation and organizational policies and procedures


  • University Degree in Nursing plus certification, license or professional designation as a Registered Nurse Healthcare
  • Long-Term Care Administrator Certificate
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience, including supervisory in healthcare, preferably LTC experience
  • Visionary, strategically orientated to the future
  • Organized thinking, demonstrates systems and critical thinking
  • Demonstrates change management skills {consulting negotiating, influencing)
  • Demonstrates an ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Analytical ability with excellent attention to detail
  • Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills
