Community Services Director

East York, Ontario

Company Overview:

Our client is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to developing a safe and caring environment for gracefully aging seniors.  They are known as an intergenerational community for families both young and older with a focus on creating a safe and encouraging place in a congregated setting.

This Community is guided by Christian faith and Mennonite heritage.

 Position & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the strategic and operational direction of the community operations to meet client needs
  • Assesses community needs and requirements for programs and services, including demographic analysis of population changes and projected growth of older adults
  • Develops, delivers and evaluates Community Support Services that focus on community needs
  • Prepares and monitors program operating budgets, provide input and expert advice on operating budgets related to community partnerships
  • Liases and works collaboratively with community groups, outside agencies, organizations and funders in the delivery of community and home support services Supports the development of the marketing for the Community support programs and special events
  • Provides leadership and coaching to direct reports and volunteers to ensure compliance with required legislative and funding authorities
  • Responsible for the development, coordination, and management of programs
  • Develops and implements program goals, objectives, and outcome measurements
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of community development principles and practices
  • Develops proposals, delivers services and provides reports associated with local provincial and federal funding streams
  • Manages complex issues with multiple partners that may include political consideration.
  • Ensures that service standards and quality measures of agency/community/client needs and demands are established, implemented and monitored

Qualifications:

  • College Diploma and/or University Degree in healthcare, social work, nursing, non-profit management and/or gerontology
  • Candidates with an equivalent education and experience may be considered
  • Minimum five years’ supervisory/leadership experience in healthcare, social work, or community /older adult centres
  • Experience with the key duties list
  • Proven ability to work with older adults in an inclusive and respectful manner
  • Knowledge of community supports and services for older adults
  • Experience with grant-funded programs
  • Strong problem solving, mediation, crisis intervention, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage numerous priorities
  • Ability to deal with a wide and diverse client group
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
