Lifestyles, Recreation Manager

Reporting to the Community Director, you will be responsible for understanding the needs and wants of each community member, in terms of services and activities which will interest them and which will be to their benefit. The Lifestyles Manager creates programs and events which engage community members, while ensuring that all appropriate government regulations are respected.

 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produces a schedule of quality programs, events and activities to meet the needs and interests of community members
  • Executes programs, activities and events according to plan and on budget which drive a high customer satisfaction level with community members
  • Performs an assessment of fitness needs on each community member and recommends areas that will benefit the community members overall health and wellness
  • Delivers fitness and physical exercise activities in the gym, both individually and in group settings
  • Recruits and manages a team of Lifestyles Assistants and volunteers effectively to support special events
  • Creates a variety of communications to raise awareness about programs eg: monthly activities calendar and newsletter
  • Assists the Community Director with developing the annual business plan by providing input regarding the Lifestyles department, operating budget, capital plan, talent and training plan and Health & Safety / Risk Management plan
  • Transport and / or accompany Community Members to and from outside activities

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in scheduling activities and event planning preferably within the healthcare, retirement living, or recreation related industries, with a proven track record of achieving/exceeding targets
  • Physical fitness certification and previous experience leading and delivering fitness programs for older adult
  • Post education in Recreation or Activation with Gerontology background
  • Interested in working in a highly customer service oriented environment and thriving on making a difference in the lives of seniors
  • Confident, results oriented, self-starter who is able to take initiative to play a contributing role in the Community Management team
  • Valid CPR/First Aid
  • Class F license or willing to obtain shortly after hire
