Location: North Bay and supporting decentralized sites in the Districts of Muskoka, Parry Sound and Timiskaming in the Province of Ontario

In preparation for the upcoming retirement of the current incumbent, One Kids Place, Children’s Treatment Centre, is currently seeking to fill the position of:

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

One Kids Place, is a charitable, non-profit children’s treatment centre offering a broad range of community-based rehabilitation and related support services to children and their families residing in the Districts of Muskoka, Nipissing, and Parry Sound. Some programs reach throughout the Northeast Ontario region through partnerships and collaboration. The agencys integrated range of services and supports recognizes the changing physical, emotional and psychological aspects of a child’s development.

RESPONSIBILITY & ACCOUNTABILITY:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and passionate leader who will partner with the Board of Directors and interested stakeholders to shape, develop and implement strategic, operational and long range plans thereby maintaining an efficient, effective and financially sound organization.

The successful candidate will:

  • Oversee the daily clinical, business, financial and property/facilities operations by working with the competent senior management team of five direct reports and a budget of $7 million.
  • Oversee a very successful and progressive fundraising department
  • Be accountable to the Ministry of Child and Youth Services; Board of Directors, employees, community/provincial partners and the families in the communities served
  • Liaise with provincial partners and research centres to further the evolution of provincial standards of services and best practices in the field of pediatric rehabilitation.
  • Communicate effectively the Vision, Mission and Values underlying the principles of the Centre and engage staff in this positive culture and healthy environment
  • Actively promote a positive image for the organization
  • Advocate on behalf of diverse communities and ensure the organization’s strategic directions and service delivery are sensitive to identified unique needs of families
  • Foster the long term learning and development of others through coaching, managing performance, mentoring and empowering

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE WITH:

  • Board relations/Governance
  • Relevant provincial legislation and policies
  • Strategies in leadership, innovation and strategic thinking
  • Contract Negotiation
  • Managing in a unionized environment
  • Sensitivity to cultural, linguistic and regional diversities
  • Experience with models of continuous quality improvement

QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES:

  • Demonstrated qualities of leadership to include: integrity, professionalism, collaboration, strategic thinking and staff engagement
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
  • 3-5 years senior management experience preferably in a children’s community health setting (Chief Executive, VP or Director level in healthcare or related field)
  • Experience in community development and exceptional ability to develop and maintain successful collaborative partnerships
  • Adept at developing and maintaining effective community and government relations to promote interest and involvement in progressive legislation, policy and programs related to disabled children and youth
  • Experience with major capital development projects and fundraising processes
  • Excellent skills in business development and operational planning
  • Experience in managing complex budgets and securing funding from multiple sources
  • An appropriate Master’s Degree and further professional development reflecting the requirements of this position
  • Bilingualism an asset
