Long Term Care – Administrator

OVERVIEW

The H. J. McFarland Memorial Home located in Prince Edward County is an accredited non-profit Long Term Care Facility operated by the Corporation of the County of Prince Edward and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

We are located on 3 acres of beautifully landscaped properties on the outskirts of Picton, with walkways, courtyards, a covered patio, and gazebo. As a non-profit facility, we are home to 84 amazing Residents and offer a range of services and programs that enrich their Quality of Life.

 WHAT A TYPICAL DAY MAY LOOK LIKE

  • The Administrator is responsible for the overall operations and accountability for long-term care programs and services in accordance with relevant Acts while promoting positive relationships with residents, families and the general public.
  • Provides supportive, effective and consistent leadership to all employees.
  • Ensures that the Home’s policies and procedures are followed.
  • Leads the strategic planning process and monitors compliance of operations.
  • Manages the development and implementation of quality audits and reviews outcomes to ensure compliance.
  • Leads the annual development of operating budgets and monitors budgets.
  • Ensures excellent communications and relations with residents, families, volunteers, employees, physicians and all other stakeholders.
  • Leads the management of all administrative staff and oversees the supervision of all staff within the Home including mentoring, training development, recruitment, and attendance management.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary degree from a program that has a minimum of three (3) years in duration or post-secondary diploma in Health or Social Services from a program that is a minimum of two (2) years in durationSuccessful completion of a program in Long Term Care Home Administration or management that is a minimum of 100 hours in duration of instruction time
  • Successful completion of a program in Long Term Care Home Administration or management that is a minimum of 100 hours in duration of instruction time5-8 years of management experience in long term care, preferably in the role of Administrator
  • 5-8 years of management experience in long term care, preferably in the role of AdministratorDemonstrated effective leader with experience working in a unionized environment
  • Demonstrated effective leader with experience working in an unionized environmentExtensive knowledge of all MOHLTC standards for long term care with experience in the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives in all disciplines
  • Extensive knowledge of all MOHLTC standards for long term care with experience in the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives in all disciplinesSuperior interpersonal, communication and customer service skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
