In preparation for the upcoming retirement of the current incumbent, the Sisters of the London, Ontario site are currently seeking to fill the position of Administrator / Director of Care.

POSITION OVERVIEW and RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Administrator / DOC is responsible for the overall administration, the day to day care, health and health support services for the Sisters of St. Joseph in the London, Ontario Residence. Facilitates an environment conducive to the greater well-being of the Sisters of St. Joseph in London and staff in keeping with the spirit and the mission of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada. The Administrator / Director of Care works closely with the Congregational Leadership Circle (CLC) contact(s), Management Circle (MC), and the Local Sister Leader to support the values of, and to provide appropriate services and safety to the Sisters, safeguarding the material resources to carry out their temporal responsibilities as required by Canon and Civil Law. (This includes overseeing up to 25 Long Term Care and 70 residence suites.)

Administrator / DOC
  • Manages the day to day operations of the residence, and other related properties as needed
  • Oversees the safety and security of the buildings and occupants and ensures that the Fire Safety, Occupational Health and Safety and the Emergency Measures Plans are adhered to
  • Develops, in conjunction with the Sisters and department supervisors, and presents to the Director – Corporate Finance the annual operating and capital budgets
  • Oversees the preparation of tender documents in accordance with the Corporate Procurement Policy to ensure that the fiscal resources are used responsibly with companies that can demonstrate quality service and support
  • In partnership with the Department Supervisors / Human Resources identifies staffing needs in posting, advertising, interviewing and orientation for all personnel as well as any disciplinary problems and / or dismissals
Health Care Delivery
  • Ensures processes are in place to identify the competency of staff, current certification and / or recertification for the performance of specific nursing skills
  • Develops a long-range plan for the service that focuses on the provision of high-quality cost-effective care consistent with the values and mission of the Sisters
  • Ensures clinical services adhere to current legislation in accordance to guidelines for Ethical Behaviour in Nursing, and the policies and procedures of the Sisters of St Joseph in Canada
  • Delegates clinical and management responsibilities to appropriate, qualified staff, according to the applicable legislation and standards of the College of Nurses
  • Consults with physicians, members of other disciplines, Sisters and families regarding care and may serve as a medical resource for Sisters

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have an Administrator’s certificate as approved by the Ministry of Health or working towards certificate within three (3) years of appointment
  • Minimum BScN as well as evidence of additional education in Gerontology
  • Achieved an undergraduate degree in Business or Finance, or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 8 – 10 years related experience in a healthcare setting with a minimum of 5 years in a senior management position
  • Has a technical proficiency with the MS Office Suite as required
